Some of the finest black teas in the world come from India, the world's leading producer of tea. Included in these teas are the robust ''malty'' Assams, fine distinctive Darjeelings and well - balanced Nilgiris. However, most tea consumed in India is not enjoyed for its fine, subtle flavor nuances, but instead is blended with sweet and pungent spices to make the popular beverage, ''Chai''. Indian Chai is enjoyed in cities and the smallest of villages, and usually is offered to every visitor to a home. In Northern India, where Chai is the beverage of choice, tiny tea stalls line the streets where all day long ''chaiwallas'' (tea vendors) brew and serve tea. Chai is usually brewed very strong with lots of sugar and milk and often concentrated. Traditional Indian Chai combines rich black tea that is boiled in milk and flavored with local spices such as sweet cinnamon, sharp clove, penetrating cardamom, and occasionally black peppercorns, pungent ginger and hot red chilies, and sweetened with sugar. This spicy tea is brewed in a samovar - type vessel and is always served very hot.Hurried customers often pour a little Chai in the saucer to cool it before drinking. For our interpretation of this classic Indian drink, we blend rich, flavorful Indian black teas and cinnamon, clove, ginger and cardamom. The brewed tea is very aromatic with a flavor that is slightly sweet, strong and penetrating, with rich, full bodied lingering flavor notes. This tea is very pleasant plain, or with milk (regular or evaporated) and sugar added. It is exceptional any time of day, as a rich morning cup, enjoyable dessert tea or as a special taste treat. Traditional Chai Spice Recipe Single Serving 1 tea bag Stash Chai Spice Tea (or 1/2 Tbsp. loose tea) 7 ounces fresh water 1 ounce milk* 1 Tbsp. sugar Bring water to a boil and pour over tea. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove tea and add milk and sugar. 1/2 Gallon 10tea bag Stash Chai Spice Tea (or 5 Tbs. loose tea) 56 ounces fresh water (7 cups) 1 cup milk* 1/2 cup sugar Bring water to a boil and pour over tea. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove tea and add milk and sugar. Stove Top Method (for a creamier more flavorful drink) 10 tea bag Stash Chai Spice Tea (or 5 Tbs. loose tea) 56 ounces fresh water (7 cups) 1 cup milk* 1/2 cup sugar Mix water, milk and sugar in a sauce pan. Add tea. Place on stove top and bring to a boil. Let boil 2 to 4 minutes. Remove tea. *For a creamier drink evaporated milk may be substituted for regular milk. . |

Power Bloom works by shortening the internode space between the branches along the main stem while encouraging lateral branching. The end result is a more compact plant with a sturdier main stalk, less legginess, and loss open space between the branches. No more bending and twisting your plants!. Furthermore, since the use of Power Bloom saves the plant a great deal of energy expenditure in not producing unneeded vertical growth, the actual growing time of your plants is reduced; you can plant later and harvest sooner. Plus the overall color will be enrichedand the vigor of the plant will be improved. And, very importantly, Power Bloom will make more females. The flowering process will be biased in favor of feminine traits and the buds produced will be more robust and mature earlier. Power Bloom is applied as a spray after the starts have achieved their third set of true leaves and a second time 2-4 weeks later. A third time is optional if you really want pygmy plants. This is Starwest's nitrogen-flusheddouble wall silverfoil pack. Large chunks of the whole peel are best for inclusion in teas and herbal concoctions. They are easily strained out of teas and the large pieces preserve more of the flavor-giving essential oils. The powder, obviously, can be dissolved in mixes and stews. Lemon peel works well goes well in dishes prepared with lemon juice, for example fish soups or fish stews. Some Central European meat-and-grain stews may also call for a little bit of grated lemon peel. When lemon peel is grated, care must be taken to limit the amount of the white albedo (mesocarp), as the essential oil and hence the aroma is located in the outer thin yellow pericarp exclusively; in contrast, the mesocarp is bitter. It is virtually impossible to avoid the bitter mesocarp completely, and so grated lemon peel will always display a slightly bitter quality. This bitterness makes lemon peel inappropriate for delicate dishes and sweets; in these cases, lemon essence or candied citron are far superior. Candied Lemon Peel: Put peel in saucepan and cover with water. Bring to boil, drain and rinse briefly under cold water. Blanch in same manner 2 more times. After third blanching, drain peels, rinse under cold water and, using thin sharp knife, remove as much pith as possible. You should be able to see some color through any remaining pith. Cut in shreds about 1/8 to ¼ inch wide. While peels are being blanched, combine 4 cups sugar and 4 cups water in large saucepan. Bring to boil and stir to combine. Cook, without stirring, over medium heat until mixture makes thin syrup, about 1 hour. You will have about 4 cups syrup. Cover triple-blanched peel with cold water and bring to simmer. Cook until peel begins to lose raw look, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain and immediately, without rinsing peel, transfer to large mixing bowl. Cover with hot sugar syrup and set aside 1 hour to candy. After fruit has candied, place about 1 cup sugar in bottom of another large mixing bowl. Add peel and toss to coat well. Shaking to remove excess sugar, transfer peel to cooling rack set over jellyroll pan to catch dripping sugar. Arrange in layer as thin as possible. Place rack and jellyroll pan in warm oven for 30 minutes to dry. Remove from oven and leave at room temperature to finish drying. Peel will continue to become firmer and chewier over several days. When peel reaches desired texture, store in airtight container until ready to use. Use powdered lemon peel in place of extract in baking; also in toppings, to flavor sugar-bowl sugar and to flavor honey, duck, and barbecue sauces.
