This formula was blended to harmonize the inner male and female with its rich top and bottom notes. In 2000, we reformulated this blend into Mystic Wind. We continue to offer Androgeny's Child because of its uniqueness and because of the many devoted fans thathave come to love it since its introduction in 1990. This is our only formula which uses a fragrance oil (agarwood oil compound), which is not a pure essential oil. Although the formula includes only a small amount of agarwood oil compound, we want to let you know that it is there. Essence oils are blends of pure essential oils with one of our exclusive crystallized essences. They are natural perfume oils that were created with specific attributes in mind and are therefore more than simple perfumes or fragrance oils. Essence oils work synergistically to promote subtle emotional qualities, such as Mystic Wind which inspires a feeling of bodily calm along with a sense of mental clarity. Essence oils are produced at our facility in the coastal mountains of California, by hand and in small batches. We begin by extracting the oil from one of the crystallized essences, filtering out the solid particles, and finally adding pure essential oils and mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) to the formula. Our process takes weeks to manufacture every batch and we use only certified organic extraction and carrier oils: high oleic acid sunflower oil and jojoba oil. In addition to being organically grown, both of these carrier oils are expeller pressed and both are very resistant to oxidation, which means they will remain fresh for a very long time. By integrating our traditionally processed essences with natural essential oils recognized for their beneficial and sensual qualities and by using certified organic carrier oils, Eden Botanicals is able to produce natural body fragrances that we believe are unparalleled in today’s marketplace. Unlike other companies that make perfume oils or fragrance oils, we provide our customers with a complete ingredient list for all of our essence oils. Essence oil blends may be used as natural perfumes or as relaxing bath oils. To use as a natural perfume oil, apply a drop or two to your pulse or pressure points. The natural fragrance will release slowly over a several hour period. For use as a bath oil, add five to ten drops to the bath water and let your entire body and spirit enjoy the benefits. This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. Native Americans also use Sheep Sorrel leaves as a tasty seasoning for meat dishes and baked it into their breads. A common summertime sight in the North American wild, Sorrel was used as a salad green. Mashed Sorrel leaves mixed with vinegar and sugar were popular as a greensauce with cold meat. The sharp taste, due to its oxalic acid and vitamin C content, led this herb to be used in folk medicine, mainly as a tea or decoction. Sorrel acts as a diuretic, antiscorbutic, and refrigerant. It is good for treating urinary problems. The herb relieves internal ulcers and, when applied externally, helps clear skin problems such as herpes, eczema and ringworm. Sheep Sorrel also contains silicon which aids the nervous system. Carotenoids, a component of Sheep Sorrel, are present at a concentration of approximately 8-12%. Beta carotene (a strong antioxidant member of the carotenoids) is converted to Vitamin A in the liver. Vitamin A has been shown to strengthen the immune system by aiding production of white blood cells. White blood cells are what attack many of the body's harmful intruders, including cancer. Sheep Sorrel is rich in Vitamin A, B complex, C, D, K, and E. Its minerals include significant levels of calcium, iron, magnesium, silicon, sulphur, zinc, maganese, iodine, and copper. Sheep Sorrel is also rich in chlorophyll, which increases oxygen content in the blood. High levels of blood oxygen can increase the body's action againstmany invasive conditions. Research at the Linus Pauling Institute and at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital has shown chlorophyll enhances the body's immunity against certain carcinogens and has been shown to strengthen the immune system. According to these studies, it appears to be effective against chromosome damage -- which is considered to be a precursor to cancer. Sheep Sorrel is also rich in potassium oxalate. It aids digestion, and has been reported to relieve stomach hemorrhage and jaundice. Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal': 'The whole herb is employed medicinally, in the fresh state. The action is diuretic, refrigerant and diaphoretic, and the juice extracted from the fresh plant is of use in urinary and kidney diseases.' |

Fragrant and tasty nutmeg is essential in any number of recipes. What would eggnog be without the nutmeg? It is mildly hallucinogenic, which may also contribute to the Christmas cheer. Nutmeg is also used in perfumes and ointments. The brown, wrinkled, apricot-like fruit contains a kernel which is covered by a bright red membrane. The membrane (arillus) provides the spice mace, and the kernel the spice nutmeg. Traditional Middle Eastern, Indian and North African spice mixtures, used for everything from meats to pastries, such as baharat, garam masala and ras el hanout, often contain nutmeg. In Holland, nutmeg is used for just about everything, literally from soup to nuts, and everything in between. French quatre épices ('four spices') contains nutmeg, ginger, white pepper and cloves. Allspice and cinnamon are sometimes added. Four spice mix finds its way into stews, ragouts, sausages and pastries. Jamaica's great jerk grilled meat seasoning often contains nutmeg. In small quantities, nutmeg acts on the stomach to improve appetite and digestion. Nutmeg oil is sometimes used to dispel flatulence. It helps prevent gas and fermentation in the intestinal tract. Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal': 'Both nutmeg and mace are used for flatulence and to correct the nausea arising from other drugs, also to allay nausea and vomiting. Nutmeg is an agreeable addition to drinks for convalescents.' King's 1898 Dispensatory: 'Both nutmeg and mace possess aromatic stimulating properties, and are occasionally used to remove flatulency, correct the nausea arising from other drugs, and to allay nausea and vomiting. It may be used in gastrodynia and atonic diarrhoea. The nutmeg forms a very agreeable addition to various drinks for convalescents, as well as to some articles of diet; it is generally grated over them, or mixed with them.' 'Dose ofnutmeg or mace, from 5 to 20 grains. Larger doses possess decided narcotic qualities, and in doses of 2 or 3 drachms, dangerous symptoms have been produced.' Eclectic Materia Medica, 1922 (Felter): 'An aromatic stimulant and carminative in small doses; larger doses produce nervous sedation and are soporific... Therapy: External. An ointment containing the finely powdered nut, or the volatile oil sometimes proves obtundant to painful piles. Grated upon a larded cloth and applied warm we have found it to give prompt and grateful relief in soreness of the chest attending an acute cold or the beginning of acute respiratory inflammation. It may also be used as a spice poultice to the abdomen in painful bowel affections from cold. A liniment of oil of nutmeg (1) and olive oil (3) is regarded by some as an efficient parasiticide for mild types of ringworm. Internal: Both the powdered nut and the oil are good carminatives and may be used to allay nausea, vomiting, and gastric pain, and to check flatulent colic and serous diarrhea.
