This is Frontier's nitrogen-flusheddouble wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. 'Paprika' powder is obtained by grinding the pods of dried sweet red peppers. Several grindings are necessary to obtain the correct texture. This aromatic powder is deep red to red-orange in color; its flavor is mildly sweet and non-pungent. One of paprika's extremely interesting attributes is its content of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). The Hungarian scientist, Dr. Szent Gyorgyi, who won a Nobel Prize in 1937 for his work on vitamin C, found paprika pods to be one of the richest of all sources of vitamin C. Paprika also contains vitamin A. Subtle, sweet parika is used in mild stews and in hot, spicy dishes. Since it is rich in sugar, overheating will burn it. Traditional meat stews, barbecued meat and sausages from Central Asia and Arabia to Western and Eastern Europe rely on paprika. The most famous example is Hungarian goulash, a thick and spicy beef, vegetable and pasta soup spiced with onions fried with plenty of paprika. The trick is to fry the paprika long enough to bring out the flavor but not to burn it. In this writer's childhood, a deviled egg was not a deviled egg unless smothered in paprika. Drain off water. Put celery and vermicelli in a stew pan. Add butter, paprika and seasonings. Mix well with a fork. Then serve. |

Used as an infusion, decoction, extract and tincture. The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Cascara Sagrada for 'Constipation.' 'Contraindications: Intestinal obstruction, acute intestinal inflammation... Children under 12 years of age, pregnancy. Side Effects: In single incidents, cramp-like discomforts of the gastrointestinal tract. These cases require a dosage reduction.' 'Special Caution for Use: Stimulating laxatives must not be used over an extended period of time (1 - 2 weeks) without medical advice. The preparation should be used only if no effects can be obtained through change of diet or use of bulk-forming products.' 'Dosage: Cut bark, powder or dry extracts for teas, decoction, cold maceration or elixir. Liquid or solid forms of medication exclusively for oral use. 20 - 30 mg hydroxyanthracene derivatives daily, calculated as cascaroside A. The individually correct dosage is the smallest dosage necessary to maintain a soft stool.' 'The fresh bark contains free anthrone and must be stored for one year or artificially aged by heat and aeration. The use of illegally processed cascara sagrada bark, e.g., fresh bark, will cause severe vomiting, possibly spasms.' Cascara bark is high in unique 'cascarosides,' as well as resins, tannins, and lipids. Cascarosides have a cathartic action, inducing the large intestine to increase its muscular contraction. Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal': 'Cascara Sagrada is a mild laxative, acting principally on the large intestine. It is considered suitable for delicate and elderly persons, and may with advantage be given in chronic constipation, being generally administered in the form of the fluid extract.' 'It acts also as a stomachic tonic and bitter, in small doses, promoting gastric digestion and appetite.' King's 1898 Dispensatory: 'Cascara sagrada, when introduced as a medicine, was highly recommended as a certain remedy in cases of habitual constipation, and in some forms of indigestion. Further trial has substantially sustained these assertions, and it is, undoubtedly, a valuable addition to our list of therapeutical agents.' 'It does not, however, succeedin all cases, but acts best where a tonic to the intestines is required. As it tones the whole intestinal tract, it is valuable in doses of 10 drops, after meals, for that dyspeptic condition which depends most largely upon constipation, and is due to intestinal weakness.' 'Administered in large doses, it has served us nicely in sick headache, due to like causes. Loss of tone in the rectum, with constipation, giving rise to hemorrhoids, is benefited by it.' Nutrient Feed Technique, Aeroponics, Deepflo, Top Feed Drip The AERODUCT™ is a custom extruded multi-feed method grow channel. What separates the AERODUCT™ from other grow channels on the market is our proprietary reversible tray lid with end caps and joiners. The AERODUCT™ is available with or without the lid. For NFT applications, the channel lid will sit lower in the tray so the net pot will sit flush on the bottom of the AERODUCT™ channel. A shallow stream of nutrient solution runs along the bottom of the tray nourishing and hydrating the root systems. The lower roots are feeding while the upper roots take in oxygen. The root system eventually will form one continuous large mat along the bottom of the channel. End caps, end caps with spouts, and joiners are available to make the AERODUCT™ channel the most flexible multi-task grow channel available. Aeroponics The AERODUCT™ can also be used in aeroponic applications. Just reverse the lid opposite from the NFT applications allowing the net pots to sit higher in the channel. The lid snaps into the inside of the tray for a no leak fit. Deep Flo Hydro-Aeroponics The deep flo hydro-aeroponics feed method can also be utilized with the flexible AERODUCT™ grow channel. Instead of using end caps with drain spouts, they are equipped with an end cap at each end of the channel and utilize our exclusive adjustable height drain fitting. Choose the depth of the nutrient solution and have the flexibility to adjust it to any desired level. With deep flo hydro-aeroponics, the nutrient solution is 2–3 inches in depth and the solution is highly aerated with dissolved oxygen. Top Feed Drip This is for growers who choose to grow with a soilless grow substrate but still want to retain the modular features an extruded channel has to offer over conventional grow trays.
