The DiamondNite tests for diamond, versus cubic zirconia or synthetic moissanite, so it is a true dual tester. We promise you'll be amazed by the accuracy and simplicity ofthis tester. One touch to the stone - no beep means it is a CZ or other fake. First continuous beep means diamond (green light). If it is followed by a higher continuous beep, then it's a moissanite (red light). DiamondNite is completely portable, uses on 9-volt battery (included) - no cord or adapter needed. DN-I OPERATION INSTRUCTION 1/ TURN UNIT ON WITH ADJUSTMENT KNOB 2/ WAIT UNTIL WAIT LIGHT GOES OFF AND READY LIGHT COMES ON, APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS 3/ HOLD TESTER WITH RIGHT HAND SO THAT YOUR FINGERS ARE RESTING ON THE REAR METAL PLATE AND YOUR OTHER HAND MUST HOLD THE METAL HOLDING THE GEM STONE OR THE METAL TEST PLATE. 4/ LIGHTLY TOUCH THE PROBE TIP IN THE CENTER OF THE GEM STONE. HOLD TESTER PERPENDICULAR TO THE TABLE OF THE GEM FOR ONE SECOND 5/ IF IT'S A SIMULANT OR NON-DIAMOND, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. IF IT'S A DIAMOND THE BUZZER WILL RING AND THE GREEN LIGHT (DIAMOND) WILL COME ON FOR ABOUT 6 SECONDS. IF IT'S A MOISSANITE THE TONE WILL CHANGE AND THE LIGHTS WILL SWITCH FROM GREEN TO RED (MOISSANITE) WITH IN 1/2 SECOND. 6/ AFTER THE BUZZER IS FIRST HEARD YOU MUST CONTINUE TO TEST FOR ONE SECOND BEFORE YOU TAKE THE PROBE OFF THE GEM STONE. THIS IS BECAUSE THE TEST FOR DIAMOND IS DONE FIRST. THE TEST FOR MOISSANITE IS COMPLETED 1/2 SECOND LATER. 7/ IF THE TONE CHANGES WHILE YOU ARE REMOVING THE PROBE, YOU MUST RE-TEST BECAUSE YOU MAY HAVE CONTACTED THE METAL FINDINGS WHILE REMOVING THE PROBE. 8/ TO SAVE THE BATTERY TURN OFF THE UNIT AFTER TESTING. IF YOU FORGET, THE TESTER WILL REMIND TO DO SO IN THREE MINUTES. 9/ IF THE YELLOW READY LIGHT FLASHES OR DOESN'T COME ON, YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE 9V BATTERY.
