Our Bucket System (a.k.a. The Tomato Machine) is perfect for growing one large plant or a few small ones. We've actually grown banana trees in these units that reached almost 7' tall and produced awesome bananas! Perfect for keeping mother plants. A popular configuration for theseunits is to plant a tomato vine in the center and 4 or 5 basil plants in a circle around the perimeter. All you need to make this a complete system is add a pH test kit and some nutrients (and a light if your growing indoors) and you're on your way! You can also hook-up multiple units to a General Hydroponics Controller to minimize maintenance. We recommend using a 175W or 250W compact lighting system with this system. Parts List: -drip ring w/tee -pumping column -PVC pumping column support tube -3-1/2 gallon growing chamber -5 gallon reservoir -drain level tube w/elbow -grommet -plastic clip -Grow Rocks -air pump & tubing Configuration: 1: The growing chamber, filled with Grow Rocks, sits in the reservoir. The pumping column fits into the pumping pipe, reaching into the nutrient solution contained in the reservoir. Air pressure from the pump pushes the solution up through the pumping column to the drip ring, which is connected to the column with the tee connector, drip holes facing down. Solution drains to the drain/level tube elbow, which is inserted through the rubber grommet at the bottom of the reservoir. 2: Install the blue drain/level tube along the outside of the reservoir. Moisten the end of the elbow fitting and push it through the rubber grommet from the out side until the third ridge enters the grommet. As you push, place your other hand inside the reservoir on the grommet to support it, so the grommet does not pop out. The tube fits into clip at the top of the reservoir. If the grommet pops out, push it back in (the wider end points inward). If water leaks from this area after the reservoir is filled, make sure the blue tube fits tightly onto the elbow. Fill the reservoir to the white line marked on the blue drain/level tube with tap water. Add your favorite hydroponic nutrient as per the directions on the label. 3: Place the growing chamber on the reservoir. 4: Push the column support tube (the white PVC pipe), with the beveled end, into the large hole located in the bottom of the growing chamber so that it protrudes down into the reservoir. Adjust it so that its top comes to one inch below the rim of the growing chamber. 5: Attach the circular drip ring to the T fitting. Make sure the holes on the drip ring are facing down. 6: Push the entire drip ring assembly (which includes the drip ring, the T fitting and the white tubes attached to the drip ring) down into the pumping pipe. It is a good idea to disassemble and wash the drip ring assembly and pumping pipe from time to time in hot water. 7: Move drip ring out of the way and pour the bag of Grow Rocks into the growing chamber. 8: Securely attach the air tube (the thin, flexible, clear tubing |

Made with certified organic vanilla and certified organic grain alcohol. Whole vanilla beans, rather than extract, will impart the purest,most intense vanilla flavor to your recipes. The best-quality, Vanilla planifolia, comes from Mexico, Madagascar, and Indonesia. Vanilla planifolia is native to Central America, where it is still grown commercially. The closely related Vanilla tahitensis, Tahiti vanilla, is native to Oceania. The Aztecs called Vanilla 'tlilxochitl,' 'black flower.' It flavored their 'cacao water,' 'cacahuatl' in the Aztec tongue Náhuatl, 'chocol haa' in the Mayan tongue. (The Aztecs were to the Mayans as the Dorians to the Mycenaeans, if one may make so bold.) Cacahuatl was made from vanilla, cocoa beans, honey, hot water and other spices, such as annatto. The Aztecs considered vanilla to be an aphrodisiac. Vanilla flavours many chocolate and confectionery items and several liqueurs such as Crème de Cacao and Galliano. V. pompona, also called Guadeloupe vanilla or Antilles vanilla from the West Indies, and V. tahitiensis, from Tahiti, are sometimes used as V. planifolia replacements. They are 'inferior' only in the sense that they are different. The aroma and flavor are slightly different, but taste is personal, and the alternative species are preferred by some. Fresh vanilla pods are tasteless - the vanillin is bound as a glycoside and must be set free by enzymatic reaction, normally induced by a sequence of blanching or steaming operations. It is this, and the equally labor-intensive need for manual pollination outside its originary South American home, that makes vanilla so expensive. Store vanilla beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark space along with your other spices. The deepest vanilla flavor is found in the seeds, the dark, sticky pulp inside the bean. Once you've extracted the seeds, there are a few ways to use them and the scraped pod: Infuse a liquid with the bean and seeds. Drop the seeds and the scraped pod into warm liquid, such as scalded milk or cream, and leave them to infuse for at least 30 minutes and up to an hour. Strain the pod from the liquid (the tiny specks of vanilla seeds will remain). Use the flavored liquid for your recipe. Add the scraped seeds directly to a batter. For example, add the seeds to the butter and sugar before creaming when making cookies. Add a small piece of a split bean (no need to scrape first) to a savory stew at the beginning of cooking. This is especially good in rich shellfish dishes or highly spiced meat dishes. A 2-inch piece of vanilla bean (halved and scraped) equals about 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
