This is a potent 5 to 1 powdered extract, meaning that one gram of extract is equal in potency to 5 grams of herb. Sir Hans Krebs, a pioneer in glutamine research, stated once that ''most amino acids have multiple functions, but glutamine appears to be the most versatile.'' Glutamine, found in many high protein foods and manufactured by the body, converted to glucose, is a major bodily and brain energy source. Glutamine, as a nutritional supplement, has been shown, in double-blind controlled studies, to reduce the alcohol withdrawal symptoms of alcoholics and to decreased their stress. Glutamine supplementation has also been shown to reduce alcohol intake. It also reduces the craving for sweets.
