This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. 1 tsp. contains 3,400 mg Vitamin C. This fine ascorbic acid powder can be stirred into any drink, or encapsulated. Vitamin C is perhaps the most popular vitamin among the common nutrients and biochemicals. Because the vitamin is water-soluble, it must be regularly replenished. Vitamin C (commonly referred toas ascorbic acid) is commonly found in fresh fruits, especially in the citrus family: oranges, lemons, limes, and tangerines. It is also abundant in spinach, turnips, mustard greens, peppers, tomatoes, melons and broccoli. Vitamin C was first isolated in 1928 by the Hungarian biochemist and Nobel prize winner Dr. Szent-Gyorgyi. Vitamin C plays an important role as a component of enzymes involved in the synthesis of collagen and carnitine; however, its most vital role is no doubt that of the primary, water-soluble antioxidant in the human body(1,2,3). Two-time Nobel prize winner, Dr. Linus Pauling was the first to realize vitamin C's crucial importance in the maintenance of a healthy immune system. In 1970 he proposed that regular intake of vitamin C in amounts far higher than the officially sanctioned RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) could help prevent and shorten the duration of the common cold. Although the medical establishment immediately voiced their strong opposition to this idea, many ordinary people believed Dr. Pauling and began taking large amounts of vitamin C. Most immediately noticed a great decrease in the frequency and severity of their colds(4). Recent medical research has confirmed Dr. Pauling's original idea.
