This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. The most famous part of North African cuisine. The term comes from Berber languages, where it is called seksou. It consists of small grains of which semolina is the main ingredient. Is used as the main ingredient in many dishes in much the same way as if it was rice (which it resembles, by the way). Couscous is made in the homes, often with many women gathered together, and formed in the hand. It is made from 2 parts of semolina, 1 part of flour, salt and water. Some handfuls of semolina are put on a plate or on the ground, after which it is watered with salty water. This is baked in the hand, while flour is added. Gradually small ''grains'' of couscous are separated. After doing this process until the right size of the ''grains'' is achieved, a bit of oil is added. Then the couscous is ready to be used in dishes. Here meat and vegetables are added. In Tunisia harissa is added to the couscous, making it hot, and red in colour. Modern times have made households make up large quantities of couscous, which is preserved dry and can be used over a period of several weeks. Pour about 1/2 cup of the flour into a very wide, flat bowl. Add nomore than 2 tablespoons water. With fingers very slightly curved, gently move the cereal in a circular motion around the bowl, using only your fingertips, until all the water is incorporated. If the mixture is too dry to form into tiny balls, add another tablespoon of water and continue mixing. [When the mixture is just right, part of the mixture will form tiny balls that feel dry but are not crumbly.] When some balls about the size of peppercorns are formed, pour the entire mixture through a colander with holes just smaller than the peppercorns, sitting over a large piece of wax paper. Return the mixture that fell through the colander to the bowl. Place the balls left in the colander [the couscous] on a clean dish towel. Repeat, adding cereal and water in the same proportions, until nothing's left to fall through the colander. Use the couscous right away or let it dry, then store in an airtight container indefinitely. Makes enough for 8-16 people, depending on accompaniments. |

Our inoculate loops are made of a sturdy aluminum handlethat comes with a twisted nichrome 25 Ga., 3mm loop. Non-insulated aluminum handle. The overall length is approximately 9''. For working with a small number of cultures, we recommend a non-insulated handle. If you are working with a large number of cultures, or plan to be flame sterilizing your loop often, then an inoculate loop with an insulated handle would be a good choice to make. |

This is good news for budding mycologists that don’t want to worry about contamination and sterility problems. The complete life cycle can be contained and observed in the sealed sterile Mushroom Bag environment. We ran a few tests and found that this species will fruitweakly within a sealed Grain Based Mushroom Bag but produces far better results in a wood-based bag. Fruiting was stimulated when the bag was exposed to fairly cool temperatures around 50-60 degrees F. Advanced growers with good climate controlled fruiting chambers may want to apply a casing layer to increase yields. After two flushes the Wood Based Mushroom Bag was buried outdoors under some vegetable plants which resulted in a small crop of mushrooms. Our culture filled syringes are guaranteed clean and viable. They are created with pure isolated culture of mushroom mycelium suspended in a nutrient solution inside a hypodermic syringe. Culture syringes are useful for inoculating sterile substrates, liquid cultures and agar. Our current batch of offered culture syringes utilizes B-D 10cc syringes with luer-lock and 16ga 1-1/2 inch needles. Orders containing syringes will be shipped in small white cardboard boxes sized approximately 10 x 2 x 2 inches. International syringe orders will contain customs labels indicating the contents of the package. |
