This is Plum Flower brand's nitrogen-flushed vacuum pack. Plum Flower is one of the most distinguished herb houses in the world. Sulfur Free, Chlorine Free, Aluminum Phosphate Free. Sulfites are used to give herbs the appearance offreshness. As with dried fruit. un-sulfured herbs look different than those that are adulterated with preservatives. Herbs that are preservative free are more natural looking and are generally darker. The brightness of the herbs may be appealing, but it indicates the presence of harmful additives. Despite their appearance, unsulfured herbs are more fresh and safer than regular commercially available products. The use of sulfur, chlorine and aluminum phosphate was made unnecessary through the establishment of Plum Flower processing stations in China. Herb harvesters slice and process the herbs fresh, avoiding the need to rehydrate dried herbs later to process. This first step is crucial, as rehydration leads to decomposition and thus the need for preservatives. The herbs are then packed and the packages vacuum-packed, injected with nitrogen, and sealed. The nitrogen process combined with the lack of sulfur treatment inhibits the growth of anaerobic organisms, resulting in safer, higher quality herbs. After opening, store in a cool dry place. The facilities in Lanzhou and Guang Zhou, China, scientifically test each batch of herbs before, during and after the processing to make sure that all the active ingredients are present. Herbs are also tested to ensure that the formulas surpass all FDA guidelines regarding heavy metals. Those herbs exported to the U.S. are voluntarily submitted to the FDA for approval. Finally, batches are regularly sent out for quality control testing in third-party labs to double-ensure that Plum Flower products are 100% free of pharmaceuticals, preservatives and dyes. The Lanzhou and Guang Zhou factories are so clean, they are certified by the Australian Government’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (GMP). This is pure vegetable oil. There are eight naturally occuring forms of vitamin E, but one reigns supreme: alpha-tocopherol. The other seven forms of vitamin E cannot meet the body's vitamin E needs. In fact, alpha-tocopherol is so potent that the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for vitamin E is based on the body's requirement for alpha-tocopherol. Even the synthetic form of alpha-tocopherol, while beneficial, pales in comparison to naturally occurring alpha-tocopherol. Alpha-tocopherol is the predominant form of vitamin E found in almonds, safflower oil, olive oil and soybean oil. These are the sources of this product, the most potent natural form of stable vitamin E, d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate. This converts to alpha-tocopherol most efffectively in the body. Natural vitamin E source (d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate) has a relative biopotency of more than 136% compared to dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (synthetic Vitamin E). That is, the accepted USP biopotency factor for dl-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (synthetic vitamin E) is 1.00 and 1.36 for d-alpha-tocopheryl acetate –this product, the natural source of vitamin E (United States Pharmacopia, 1980). This official potency factor, however, does not take into account newer findings in vitamin E metabolism research. Recent research data demonstrated a higher biopotency factor, 1.76, for natural source vitamin E than the currently accepted USP definition. It also aids immune function and prevents osteoarthritis. Externally, it is healing to skin. It is an effective membrane stabilizer that protects the skin from sun damage, reduces fine facial lines and wrinkles and generally improve skin smoothness. This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. Whole or ground fenugreek (foenum-graecum is Latin for 'Greek hay') is traditional in Mediterranean and Indian cooking, found in most Indian curries and chutneys. A favourite Indian dish is 'methi aloo' or pan-fried potatoes flavoured with fenugreek. It is also a basic Indian pickling spice. Fenugreek is also sprouted and used in salads, providing an excellent source of Vitamin E. Fenugreek's steroidal saponins account for many of its beneficial effects, particularly the inhibition of cholesterol absorption and synthesis. The seeds are rich in dietary fiber, which may be the main reason they can lower blood sugar and cholersterol levels. This remarkable property has been confirmed in more than one modern study. The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Fenugreek seed for 'Internal: Loss of appetite. 'Actions: Secretolytic; Hyperemic; Mild antiseptic.' Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal':'In Cairo it is used under the name of Helba. This is an Egyptian preparation, made by soaking the seeds in water till they swell into a thick paste. Said to be equal to quinine in preventing fevers; is comforting to the stomach and has been utilized for diabetes. The seeds are soaked in water, then allowed to sprout, and when grown about 2 or 3 inches high, the green eaten raw with the seeds.' 'The seeds yield the whole of their odour and taste to alcohol and are employed in the preparation of emollient cataplasms, ointments and plasters. They give a strong mucilage, which is emollient and a decoction of 1 oz. seeds to 1 pint water is used internally in inflamed conditions of the stomach and intestines. The ground seeds are used also to give a maple-flavouring to confectionery.' King's 1898 Dispensatory: 'The Greeks were acquainted with fenugreek, it being one of the important medicines employed by that people. The only property worth mentioning is its emolliency. A poultice (or plaster or ointment) of the powdered seeds, or a decoction, has been used on inflamed parts, and the latter has been used as a rectal and vaginal wash to soothe irritation or inflammation; it has likewise been used to allay irritation of the throat and breathing passages.' 'The decoction is prepared from 1 ounce of the seeds and 1 pint of water. Burns, etc., may be dressed with its bland oil. The infusion or tincture may be used as a tonic to improve digestion.
