Alcohol Free Fluid Extract Promotes A Healthy Immune System The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Purple coneflower herb (Echinacea purpurea) for 'Internal use: Supportive therapy for colds and chronic infections of the respiratory tract and lower urinary tract. This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. Beeswax is used for making beauty creams and soaps. Beeswax crafts include candle making, beeswax modeling, making crayons, encaustic art (melting crayons onto an iron and then 'painting' it onto paper), and furniture polish. Sleeping Beauty Cream: This recipe comes from Janice Cox's book 'Natural Beauty for All Seasons.' 1 tablespoon grated beeswax 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil ¼ cup light sesame oil ¼ cup orange flower water Pinch of borax powder Mix together the beeswax, vitamin E oil, and sesame oil. Heat gently until the beeswax is melted. Combine the orange flower water and borax powder, and heat until very warm. Pour the warm water into the oil mixture and stir well. Continue to stir, or pour the whole mixture into and electric blender and blend for 1 minute. Pour the cream into a clean container and allow it to cool completely. Store in a cool, dry place. Apply the cream before you go to bed. Herbal Skin Cream: http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/5316/beauty.html: ¾ ounce beeswax shaving 1 cup vegetable oil 1 cup water (or rose water) 24 drops (¼ teaspoon) rose geranium essential oil or 6 drops rose essential oil. Heat the beeswax and oil in a pot unti lthe beeswax melts.Remove from heat, and add essential oils. In a separate pot, heat the water until it's warm to the touch. Remove the center ring on the lid of your blender or food processor and pour in the warm water. With the blender on high speed, slowly add the oil-beeswax mixture until it begins to solidify (this should happen once three-quarters of it has been added to the water). As this happens, continue adding the oil-beeswax mixture to the water, stirring in the top edges as they turn solid. Keep adding the oil and beeswax to the water until the mixture can't absorb any more. Turn off the blender, and, using a rubber spatula, pour the cream into wide-mouthed jars while it's warm and can be poured (pimento jars are ideal). One caveat: Substances that contain water invite bacterial growth. However, essential oils and beeswax (and vitamin E) are natural preservatives and, under most conditions, they'll give a cream at least a six-month shelf life. If you keep the cream refrigerated, it should keep three times as long. |
