Mushroom Bag Straw Based: SW
The Straw Based Mushroom Bag is a completely self contained environment for the incubation and fruiting of straw and grass loving mushrooms. This latest bag formula has been developed for more substantial yields from mushrooms that prefer straw based substrates over grain based substrates. This formulation design proves to be moreusable by live cultures. The bag is shipped with all air removed for easy packing. The spore syringe or culture is NOT included with the bag and must be purchased separately. To use, simply unfold the Bag, allowing the extra material to stand straight up. Locate the small foam disk sealed and attached in a plastic housing near the base of the Bag. This disc is the self-healing injector site. Note: The disc will be covered by a small plastic shield. Do not attempt to remove the plastic covering the disc, you will inject through it. Sterilize a small section of the outside of the Bag (on the plastic shield) directly over the foam disc with an alcohol soaked wipe. With the same alcohol soaked wipe, sterilize the needle on your culture syringe. Inoculate the substrate (material inside the bag) with culture syringe solution by inserting the needle through the plastic shield and foam disc at the previously sterilized spot. Squirt 1cc of culture solution directly into the substrate material. DO NOT insert the needle through the white filter patch found near the top of the Bag. Place the Bag(s) in a dark location and incubate at species specific parameters. It is recommend to store the Bag fully extended as developing Mycelia will give off gases that will slowly expand the interior of the Bag. This ballooning effect is crucial for proper air exchange and culture development. Note: During drier summer months it is advisable to store the Bag in a humid location. Excessively dry environments may draw moisture from the Bag. Because colonization will begin in the interior of the substrate material it may take between 14-20 days for you to notice the spreading of colonizing mycelium towards the outside of the Bag. Speed of colonization is directly affected by incubation temperatures, please check to make sure you are incubating the bag at the correct temperature for the species you are attempting to cultivate. Typical colonization time is between 21-30 days for most species and strains when incubated properly. When colonization is 90% or 100% complete, move Bag(s) to a location with indirect light (indoor light or filtered sunlight is best). Allow the Bags to receive 12 hours of indirect light per day (direct fluorescent lighting works as well). Some specimens, such as the Golden Oyster (Pl. citrinopileatus), perform better if the colonized Bag is punctured several times on the side at substrate level. Only puncture the Bag after 100% colonization is achieved (ie the entire bag is white with healthy mycelium). This allows the Oyster mushrooms pins to form in a more suitable non-air restrictive environment. Placin

Absinthe Herb Cut & Sifted (Artemisia absinthium) 1 lb: K
This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. Absinthe is traditionally used as a tea, a strong decoction, a smoke or as an alcoholic extract, a liqueur. The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends absinthe for 'Loss of appetite, dyspepsia, biliary dyskinesia. Daily dosage: 2 - 3 g of herb as water infusion. Mode of Administration: Cut herb for infusions and decoctions, herb powder, also extracts and tinctures as liquid or solid forms of medication for oral administration.' Yes, absinthe is an inebriating pipeful - its psychoactive thujones seem to bind to the same receptor as THC. Several species of Artemisia are also smoked for visionary effect by some Indian tribes. Edgar Allen Poe loved it, and lookit what he did. A user writes: 'The effect was extremely pleasant, although I would not list absinthe as a psychedelic. It definitely belongs in terms of subjective effects to the solvent/nitrous oxide category, although pharmacologically very different. The following day I felt very lethargic, but it is hard to say if it was due to the absinthe since we stayed up pretty late that night. My conclusion: I give it two thumbs up, but would not drink it more than occasionally since it is reported as neurotoxic.' Although the oil destroys various types of worms, long-term use, due to the mildly toxic thujones, is not recommended. Ordinary wormwood teas or tinctures, however, contain very little thujone, and are considered safe for short-term use. Wormwood is safe enough to be recommended by the German Commission E (see below). Also present in the plant are strong bitter agents known as absinthin and anabsinthin. These stimulate digestive function, including gall bladder function. Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal': 'The chief constituent is avolatile oil, of which the herb yields in distillation from 0.5 to 1.0 per cent. It is usually dark green, or sometimes blue in colour, and has a strong odour and bitter, acrid taste. The oil contains thujone (absinthol or tenacetone), thujyl alcohol (both free and combined with acetic, isovalerianic, succine and malic acids), cadinene, phellandrene and pinene. The herb also contains the bitter glucoside absinthin, absinthic acid, together with tannin, resin, starch, nitrate of potash and other salts.' Medicinal Action and Uses: Tonic, stomachic, febrifuge, anthelmintic. 'A nervine tonic, particularly helpful against the falling sickness and for flatulence. It is a good remedy for enfeebled digestion and debility.' 'Preparations: Fluid extract, ½ to 1 drachm. Wormwood Tea, made from 1 oz. of the herb, infused for 10 to 12 minutes in 1 pint of boiling water, and taken in wineglassful doses, will relieve melancholia and help to dispel the yellow hue of jaundice from the skin, as well as being a good stomachic, and with the addition of fixed alkaline salt, produce

Bay Leaf Whole Cert Organic (Laurus nobilis) 0.21 oz Pouch: K
Also called Laurel Leaf and Sweet Bay, Laurus nobilis, an evergreen tree of the family Lauraceae, is indigenous to countries bordering the Mediterranean. Bay leaf is a popular spice used in picklingand marinating and to flavour stews, sauces, pickles, stuffings, and fish. Bay leaves can be cooked for hours without much aroma loss. Fresh or dried bay leaves frequently show up in bouquet garni. Bay leaves are delicately fragrant but have a bitter taste. They contain approximately 2 percent essential oil, the principal component of which is cineole. The smooth and lustrous dried bay leaves are usually used whole and then removed from the dish after cooking; they are sometimes marketed in powdered form.
