Grodan Rockwool Cubes aregreat for rooting cuttings or germinating seeds. We recommend soaking them in pH 5.5 water overnight, and add seeds or cuttings the next day. Keep them under a dome to retain moisture and mist if necessary. From here, you can transplant into any growing medium, soil or hydro. If you want to transplant into larger rockwool blocks later on, don't use these cubes (they're too small) - use the 1.5x1.5x1.5'' cubes. |

It is also used in plasters and might be substituted for Balsam of Peru or Balsam of Tolu.' 'The inhalation of steam laden with the volatile portion of the drug is said to relieve bronchitis and laryngitis.' 'The ceremonial incense of the Jews was compounded of four 'sweet scents,' of which pure Frankincense was one, pounded together in equal proportion. It is frequently mentioned in the Pentateuch.' King's 1898 Dispensatory: 'Olibanum is a stimulant, producing results similar to those from the tolu and Peru balsams; it is principally used as a fumigating article, and occasionally forms an ingredient of plasters. The dose, when used internally, is from 5 to 40 grains, in emulsion.' Frankincense has some remarkable properites, and has always been used internally in Ayurvedic medicine. To quote some recent research, cited below: 'An alcoholic extract of frankincense gum resin (AESG) was studied in rats and mice with induced localized inflammation and arthritis. AESG showed marked anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activity.' 'This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled study of eighty patients with chronic bronchial asthma. Half were treated with a frankincense gum resin preparation for 6 weeks. The other half were treated with a placebo for six weeks. 70% of the gum resin group showed improvement, compared with 27% of patients in the control group. The researchers conclude that frankincense gum resin has a role in the treatment of bronchial asthma.' 'Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory disease of the colon. Boswellic acids have been shown to inhibit an enzyme that mediates this inflammation. In this study, patients with ulcerative colitis were given frankincense gum resin preparation orally for six weeks. Cultivation Difficulty: Easy Type: Edible Substrate: Pasteurized straw, hardwood chips and sawdust, various grains, newspaper and cardboard. Colonization/Fruiting Temperatures 75-85F/70-85F Everything you need to start exploring the wonders of edible mushroom cultivation! These kits include the Oyster Mushroom Culture and a number of our pre-sterilized Straw Based Mushroom Bags. The Small kit includes one Bag and 3cc culture syringe. The Medium kit includes four Bags and a 10cc culture syringe. The Golden Oyster is an attractive fast growing mushroom that fruits easily on a wide range of ligneous substrates. The mushrooms grow in clusters of small, thin fleshed, funnel-shaped bright yellow caps. The flavor improves dramatically with thorough cooking. Mushrooms tend to be bitter and sour when raw or undercooked. The Golden Oyster is not as productive as other oyster mushrooms, So expect only 2 flushes before the substrate is exhausted. The temperature must be at least 65F to initiate fruiting. These mushrooms also need plenty of fresh air to develop normally. High carbon dioxide levels from mushroom metabolism will accumulate in sealed growing environments and may reduce cap size severely. Each Oyster Mushroom Kit includes a number of pre-sterilized substrate Bags specially designed for straw and grass loving mushrooms. Also included is enough culture material to get each bag started and a plastic humidity tent for fruiting. A filter patch is attached to each Bag to allow for gas exchange during colonization and fruiting. The Bags measure 4'' wide, 3'' deep, and 18'' tall and contains approximately one pound of sterilized substrate. To use, simply unfold the Bag, allowing the extra material to stand straight up. Locate the small foam disk sealed and attached in a plastic housing near the base of the Bag. This disc is the self-healing injector site. Note: The disc will be covered by a small plastic shield. Do not attempt to remove the plastic covering the disc, you will inject through it. Sterilize a small section of the outside of the Bag (on the plastic shield) directly over the foam disc with an alcohol soaked wipe. With the same alcohol soaked wipe, sterilize the needle on your culture syringe. Inoculate the substrate with culture syringe solution by inserting the needle completely through the self-healing plastic shield and foam disc at the previously sterilized spot. Squirt 1-3cc of solution directly into the substrate material. DO NOT insert the needle through the white filter patch found near the top of the Bag. Place the kit's Bag(s) in a dark location and incubate at species specific parameters (listed in species description pages). It is recommend to store the Bag fully extended as developing Mycelia will give off gases that will slowly expand the interior ofthe Bag.
