This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. Used as a tea or decoction. Fo-ti use is ancient in China, especially as a tonic and restorative for the elderly. It is identified as a Qi tonic, that is,an herb that benefits the immune system and has hormonal effects. It is a traditonal treatment for poor sleep. The herb is regarded as a slow-acting sedative, that is, a systemic sedative the benefits of which are felt over a period of months. Fo-ti is rich in phospholipids (such as lecithin), anthraquinones (rhein, emodin and chysophanol), tannins, and tetrahydroxystilbene glucoside. Animal and test tube research has confirmed traditional Chinese usages, showing Fo-Ti to lower blood fat, increase red blood cell production, fight bacteria, stimulate immune functions and have a mild laxative effect. Oklahoma State University was assigned a U.S. patent (Patent 5,531,991 issued July 2, 1996) for an extract of Polygonum multiflorum designed to treat hyperglycemia. The extract was developed by Professors Nan-Zheng Cheng and Barbara Stoecker. Three fractions of extracts were shown to potentiate insulin activity in fat cell assays and lower blood glucose levels in animal studies. |

The above photo shows a culture syringe inoculation of Mushroom Bag Primary Spawn Rye Formula, and the bag being colonized by Golden Oyster, Pleurotus citrinopileatus mycelium, primary spawn, or primary filamentous growth, of the mushroom. The Mushroom Bag Primary Spawn Rye Formula contains just over 1 pound of pre-cooked and pre-sterilized rye grain that can be used for primary spawn generation with culture syringe injection through the self-healing injection site. The Mushroom Bag Primary Spawn Rye Formula bag is specifically designed for primary spawn generation. If you are seeking a Pre-sterilized Bag product for contained incubation and fruiting of mushrooms, please see our other Mushroom Bags. The spore syringe or culture is NOT included with the bag and must be purchased separately. To use, simply unfold the Bag, allowing the extra material to stand straight up. Locate the small foam disk sealed and attached in a plastic housingnear the base of the Bag. This disc is the self-healing injector site. Note: The disc will be covered by a small plastic shield. Do not attempt to remove the plastic covering the disc, you will inject through it. Sterilize a small section of the outside of the Bag (on the plastic shield) directly over the foam disc with an alcohol soaked wipe. With the same alcohol soaked wipe, sterilize the needle on your culture syringe. Inoculate the pre-sterilized rye berries with culture syringe solution by inserting the needle through the plastic shield and foam disc at the previously sterilized spot. Squirt 1cc of culture solution directly into the substrate material. DO NOT insert the needle through the white filter patch found near the top of the Bag. Return the inoculated bags back to the shipping box and place in a dark, warm location (species specific). Allow the bag to remain extended so gaseous exchange through the filter patch is not blocked. Because colonization will begin in the interior of the substrate material it may take between 14-20 days for you to notice the spreading of colonizing mycelium towards the outside of the Bag. Speed of colonization is directly affected by incubation temperatures, please check to make sure you are incubating the bag at the correct temperature for the species you are attempting to cultivate. Typical colonization time is between 21-30 days for most species and strains when incubated properly. Once fully colonized the rye berry spawn may be used to inoculate other bulk mediums such as pasteurized straw, sawdust, hardwood blocks, etc. |
