Nutrient film technique (NFT) hydroponic kits from American Hydroponics are complete and user-friendly, quality throughout. They are simple by design, easy to assemble and will give you many years of gardening enjoyment. They work by trickling a slow moving film (stream) of oxygen rich nutrient down gently sloped, flat bottomed gullies (channels). Plants love it and thrive in this system. NFT Gully is the preferredgrowing method of commercial lettuce growers in Australia and New Zealand. These kits are built with the same quality components as those commercial installations. (Incidentally, this is the same exact material we use to grow lettuce at our own commercial farm and it works excellent). The system includes A.H.'s Jumbo gullies for growing larger plants such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers, which measure 3''x6'', and feature a specially routed opening that perfectly fits a 3'' rockwool block. The gullies have been specially designed with flat bottoms and special ridges for even flow and are made from FDA-approved, 100% recycled HDPE plastic. Each kit includes a galvanized steel table frame with strong injection-molded ABS plastic corners, pre-drilled growing gullies, Oasis root cubes, energy saving submersible pump, feed and drain plumbing manifolds, 4 month supply of nutrients, pH test kit, and complete instructions. All you need is a 14 or 30 gallon black ABS reservoir (call for special pricing when purchasing together with an NFT system) to complete your system. Dimensions: 48'' x 48'' x 24''. The Primary Spawn Wood Plug Formula Mushroom Bag is specifically designed for primary spawn generation of wooden dowel plug spawn for popular wood loving edible and medicinal mushrooms such as Shiitake, Oyster, and Reishi Mushrooms. The bed of sterilized whole kernal corn found at the base of each bag allows the injected culture to easily germinate and colonize the wooden dowels without ever exposing the bag contents! Once colonized the plug spawn can be used to inoculate fresh cut logsfor outdoor log-based mushroom cultivation. The above photo shows Culture syringe inoculation of the Primary Spawn Wood Plug Formula Mushroom Bag. Note the downward inoculation angle of the culture syringe. The Primary Spawn Wood Plug Formula Mushroom Bag is being colonized by Shiitake, Lentinula edodes mycelium, primary spawn, or primary filamentous growth, of the mushroom. The Primary Spawn Wood Plug Formula Mushroom Bag contains approximately 200 pre-soaked and sterillized 5/16'' x 1'' spiral cut wooden dowels, built on a layer of spawn generating whole kernal corn allowing spawn generation via culture syringe injection through the self-healing injection site. Primary Spawn Wood Plug Formula Mushroom Bag contains enough plug spawn for 3-4 logs of 3-4 feet (1 meter) in length. The spore syringe or culture is NOT included with the bag and must be purchased separately. To use, simply Unfold the Bag, allowing the extra material to stand straight up. Locate the small foam disk sealed and attached in a plastic housing near the base of the Bag. This disc is the self-healing injector site. Note: The disc will be covered by a small plastic shield. Do not attempt to remove the plastic covering the disc, you will inject through it. Sterilize a small section of the outside of the Bag (on the plastic shield) directly over the foam disc with an alcohol soaked wipe. With the same alcohol soaked wipe, sterilize the needle on your culture syringe. Inoculate the pre-sterilized whole kernal corn found in the bottom of each Bag with culture syringe solution by inserting the needle at a downward angle (as pictured above) through the plastic shield and foam disc at the previously sterilized spot. Squirt 1-3cc of culture solution directly into the whole kernal corn. DO NOT insert the needle through the white filter patch found near the top of the Bag. Return the inoculated bags back to the shipping box and place in a dark, warm location (species specific). Allow the bag to remain extended so gaseous exchange through the filter patch is not blocked. Because colonization will begin in the interior of the substrate material it may take between 7-14 days for you to notice mycelium spreading towards the outside of the Bag. Speed of colonization is directly affected by incubation temperatures, please check to make sure you are incubating the bag at the correct temperature for the species you are attempting to cultivate.
