This is Plum Flower brand's nitrogen-flushed vacuum pack. Plum Flower is one of the most distinguished herb houses in the world. Sulfur Free, Chlorine Free, Aluminum Phosphate Free. Sulfites are used to give herbs the appearance of freshness. As with dried fruit. un-sulfured herbs look different than those that are adulterated with preservatives. Herbs that are preservative free aremore natural looking and are generally darker. The brightness of the herbs may be appealing, but it indicates the presence of harmful additives. Despite their appearance, unsulfured herbs are more fresh and safer than regular commercially available products. The use of sulfur, chlorine and aluminum phosphate was made unnecessary through the establishment of Plum Flower processing stations in China. Herb harvesters slice and process the herbs fresh, avoiding the need to rehydrate dried herbs later to process. This first step is crucial, as rehydration leads to decomposition and thus the need for preservatives. The herbs are then packed and the packages vacuum-packed, injected with nitrogen, and sealed. The nitrogen process combined with the lack of sulfur treatment inhibits the growth of anaerobic organisms, resulting in safer, higher quality herbs. After opening, store in a cool dry place. The facilities in Lanzhou and Guang Zhou, China, scientifically test each batch of herbs before, during and after the processing to make sure that all the active ingredients are present. Herbs are also tested to ensure that the formulas surpass all FDA guidelines regarding heavy metals. Those herbs exported to the U.S. are voluntarily submitted to the FDA for approval. Finally, batches are regularly sent out for quality control testing in third-party labs to double-ensure that Plum Flower products are 100% free of pharmaceuticals, preservatives and dyes. The Lanzhou and Guang Zhou factories are so clean, they are certified by the Australian Government’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (GMP). These standards surpass any of the FDA, and are considered the highest for any government agency in the world. Varuna Fulfillment Center items are special ordered. But bilberry has also shown promise in the treatment of other eye disorders, such as diabetic retinopathy and pigmentary retinitis, so bilberries and eyes seem to go together. Anthocyanosides also appear to strengthen collagen, the protein that provides support to healthy connective tissue. Anthocyanosides help larger blood vessels maintain good circulation throughout the body. A 1988, single-blind, placebo-controlled study of this herb included 60 patients with poor circulation (venous insufficiency). The results showed that bilberry extract decreased the participants' discomfort when taken over a period of 30 days. Bilberry's astringent tannins help with diarrhea, sore throat, and inflammations in the mouth. A cooled tea made from the dried berries can be either drunk or gargled for these purposes. Bilberry is also strongly antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial. Extracts of bilberry have proven antiviral in cell culture for herpes simplex virus II, influenza, and vaccinia viruses. Kills or inhibits the growth of funguses, yeasts, and bacteria. It also kills protozoans such as Trichomonas vaginalis. |

This is Starwest's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Mustard seed is, obviously, the basis of your own homemade gourmet mustard. It also an invaluable addition to many sauces, stews, chutneys, breads and casseroles. Mustard is usually made with crushed or ground mustard seeds, vinegar, and wine. Honey or sugar are often added for sweetness, herbs and spices to taste. Tarragon is a frequent addition to mustard recipes, as is turmeric, which gives a bright yellow color. The pungency of white mustard (Sinapis alba) is stable, and does not diminish over time, whereas the pungency of black musatard (Sinapis nigra), although initially stronger than that of white mustard, diminishes upon long standing due to hydrolysis. Black mustard seeds, therefore, are used for strong and spicy mustards, and are understood to have a shorter shelf-life than mustard made from white seeds. Lemon and Mustard Seed Chutney http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/blcon40.htm: Ingredients 4 medium onions, sliced 5 big lemons, seeded and chopped up 1 ounce salt 1 pint apple cider vinegar 1 ounce mustard seeds ¼ pound seedless raisins 1 scant teaspoon ground allspice 1 pound sugar Dash mace 1 or 2 cracked black peppercorns Pinch of cracked coriander (optional) Sprinkle salt over the onions and lemons and leave for 12 hours. Add remaining ingredients, bring to boil, then simmer on very low fire for about 45 minutes. Put into sterilized jars and seal when cold. Serve with leftover beef or mutton or ham, or as a side dish to anything curried. Rhubarb Chutney http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/blcon38.htm: Ingredients 1 pound rhubarb 2 teaspoons coarsely grated fresh ginger 2 garlic cloves 1 or 2 jalapeno peppers, seeds and veins removed 1 teaspoon paprika 1 tablespoon black mustard seeds ¼ cup dried currants 1 cup light brown sugar 1-½ cups white wine vinegar Wash the rhubarb and slice it into pieces ¼ inch thick. If the stalks are wide, first cut them into halves or thirds lengthwise. Finely chop the grated ginger with the garlic and jalapenos. Place all the ingredients in a non-corroding pan, bring to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer until the rhubarb is broken down and is the texture of a jam, about 30 minutes. Stored refrigerated in a glass jar, this chutney will keep several months. Hot, tart and sweet, this is a condiment to serve with curries or with crackers and cream cheese. Mustard's stimulating, diaphoretic action can be utilized in the way that cayenne and ginger are. For feverishness, colds, and flu, mustard may be taken as a tea or ground and sprinkled into a bath. Opaque (non-transparent) tubing (black or white) blocks sunlight to eliminate algae growth when used for water delivery. Black hides well in garden ponds, etc. Opaque tubing may be purchased by the roll or by the foot. Working pressures same as Clear. Our tubing is UV stabilized for long life when exposed to sunlight. Black tubing is recommended for use in water gardening because it practically disappears underwater, and since sunlight does not penetrate it, algae growth inside the tubing is inhibited. Perfect for hydroponic and irrigation applications as well. All tubing will withstand a maximum pressure of 28 psi at 73 degrees Farenheit.
